Remembering
Memories.
Sometimes such hard things to handle yet they also hold some of our most dearest times. Remembering things can be almost impossible for some, and for others, remembering is as easy as blinking your eyes.
Our memories hold the stories of our lives, both good and bad. Our past experiences have shaped a lot of who we are now and how we handle situations.
God called many people from the Bible to remember what He had done for them and how he had blessed them. He also wants us to remember who He is and what He has done for us. One of our biggest problems that we humans have always had is that we forget small events in our lives that have affected us and molded us into who we are.
My memories are faded by past hurts and guilt that cloud my mind and distort my perception of my own history. I feel like my life is just here and now and that my past is just a cloud dissipating in the wind. At times I feel so lost and I don't really know who I am because I can't or won't remember.
Sometimes writing things down helps us to remember certain times or lessons that we need to review later and evaluate how we've grown. We can look back at a situation and take lessons from it that we can use in what we are going through at that moment.
Remembering is not worshipping the past and trying to relive experiences and memories that have caused warm "fuzzy" feelings for us. Life and culture changes around us and trying to live in the past causes us to miss out on what is going on in our lives now. Remembering is taking lessons from the past and applying what happened so that we can grow and focus on God and what He has for us in our future.
